6/11/2023 0 Comments Arnold palmer drinkIn the Southern United States, "half and half" may also refer to a mixture of half sweet, half unsweetened tea. The drink consists of 1 part lemonade and 1 part iced tea variations may include a mixture of sweet and unsweetened tea. The Arnold Palmer, also known as a half and half, is popular in the Northeastern United States. This name, however, is used not in the majority of bars but only in the most traditional ones, probably due to the existence of Roldós' "Medio y Medio". "Medio y medio" is also the name for another cocktail, made with White Vermouth and "Caña" (literally "cane"), a 35–50% alcoholic beverage distilled from sugar cane. The most common "Medio y Medio" is the one produced by Roldós, a local restaurant that claims having invented the mixture. It is massively consumed during the holidays but it can be found in certain places throughout the year as well. "Medio y medio" comes in Red, Rosé and White varieties, the latter being the original and most popular. In Uruguay there's a beverage called "Medio y Medio" ("half and half") that consists of sweet sparkling wine and dry white wine in equal parts. In the canton of Ticino, a mezz e mezz (literally half and half in the local Ticinese dialect) refers to a mixture of one half local Merlot wine and one half gazosa (a local lemon-flavoured carbonated soft drink). In the canton of Geneva, a "moitié-moitié" generally refers to a digestif containing one half Williamine liqueur and one half Williamine eau-de-vie. In Switzerland, and more particularly in Valais, a half & half is a mixture of dry and sweet liquor of the same fruit. "Pola pola" is also known as "litra i voda" (one bottle of wine and one bottle of carbonated water), as well as "Litar-litar" (as in 1 liter of wine, 1 liter of water) and "Gemišt". Different ratios of wine and carbonated water are named with various slang terms, depending on the region. "Pola pola" ("half and half") is a slang term for the drink spritzer, made out of equal parts of white wine or rosé wine and carbonated water. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia In Scotland, a "hauf an a hauf" (half and a half) is a glass of whisky (a "wee hauf", a quarter gill) and a half-pint of beer as a chaser. The dark beer is a Danish version of an Imperial stout-type beer in Denmark simply called " porter", which is a little sweeter than a Guinness. If you order a "half and half" in a Copenhagen bar, you will get a mixture of dark beer and pilsner ( lager). Originally, it was a mixture of two different typical beer types from Brussels: 50% lambic and 50% faro. In some cafés in Brussels, a "half en half", Dutch for "half and half", is a mixture of white wine and champagne. " Half and half" is the name of various beverages and foods made of an equal-parts mixture of two substances, including dairy products, alcoholic beverages, and soft drinks.Īlcoholic beverages Belgium JSTOR ( February 2008) ( Learn how and when to remove this template message).Unsourced material may be challenged and removed. GIASI offers three different flavors of the 30 proof ABV vodka-based 'READY TO DRINK' cocktail: sweet tea/lemonade, peach tea/lemonade, and raspberry tea/lemonade. Initial reach in California and Nevada has swept to 13 states including his home state of Arkansas, Texas and Illinois. Bottled by Frank-Lin Distiller's in Fairfield, California, the official Original John Daly Cocktail came to market in 2013. GIASI stands for "Grip It And Sip It", a play on words of his "Grip it and Rip it" catch phrase. In response, Daly formed the GIASI Beverage Company in 2010 with two of his close friends. Daly considered the use of his name without authorization to be trademark infringement. The drink was initially made popular at the Whiskey Creek Golf Course in Fort Myers, Florida, by bartender Daton Lewis during Daly's 2005 run at the Dirty Gator Open. The name is a tongue-in-cheek nod to Daly's problems with alcohol abuse. The drink is an alcoholic version of the Arnold Palmer (also named after an American golfer). It can also be made with lemonade and sweet tea vodka (a vodka infusion). Lewis almost always played a semi-nerd, but it was always a bit of a very cool nerd with Jerry Lewis. Jerry as "Junior Jackson" is a shy, clumsy nerd who is trained to be a football player by the handsome, popular Dean Martin. One of his early films with Dean Martin ( That's My Boy) Jerry played a classic glasses-wearing nerd. Once in a while, Jerry would wear glasses in his films, notably The Nutty Professor and The Ladies Man. In the 1950s and '60s, the great Jerry Lewis often played a nerd-type character in his wonderful comedies. Ironically, Cary Grant, perhaps the most dapper actor in movie history, donned glasses and played a nerd character in 1938's classic comedy Bringing Up Baby. In fact, Lloyd always referred to his character as the "glasses" or "glass" character, much as Charlie Chaplin was "the Tramp." After Lloyd, the nerd character was on the shelf for many years in movies -with sporadic exceptions. The Lloyd character wore trademark glasses. But in the end, he would triumph and inevitably get the girl of his dreams. Lloyd played a weak, underdog type of comedic character, one bullied by men and ignored by women. As far as I can determine, the first nerd in movie history was the popular silent comedian Harold Lloyd. The "nerd" in movie history has not, to my knowledge, ever been fully written. The students who liked to party there were called "drunks" and the quieter, less-inclined-to-party types were labeled "knurds." See, "drunk" spelled backwards is "knurd," the precursor to the modern "nerd." In 1957, in Glasgow, Scotland, "nerd" was first defined as "square." Motion pictures, the most powerful medium of communication in human history (before television) had, of course, a huge impact on the lives of almost everyone on earth. Some theorists believe the word started at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the 1940s. This is the first instance of the word "nerd" in print. Seuss's book If I Ran the Zoo, Seuss drew a non-human creature called a 'nerd" from the land of Ka-roo. The word "nerd" was actually coined by my favorite fiction writer, the great Dr. Why do nerds so often wear glasses? This is an interesting question, and obviously it has a significance in my own life and career. You can add botanicals to the oils by infusing them before adding with water, or you can drop in a few essential oils and mix into your basic lotion once it’s cooled. – organic tea, rose water, plain water, infusionsĮxperiment with different carrier oils and emulsifiers to find the perfect balance for your ideal product. Water, Additives, and Botanicals to 100 %.Oils 12-20% – avocado, almond, olive oil.Emulsifiers 5-8% – beeswax, candelilla wax, lecithin, stearic acid, etc.As you experiment, keep in mind the basic ratios for making lotion: Now that you have a basic understanding of how and why an emulsifier works, you can start figuring out what you want to create. (Beeswax isn’t vegan, so stay away from that if you’re looking to create products for the vegan market.) We have a number of emulsifiers on our website. In cosmetics, you can use from emulsifying wax, lecitin, or stearic acid, a stabilizing agent found in vegetable fats. For cooking we often use eggs as emulsifiers. You will likely use an emulsifying wax for this emulsion.Įmulsifiers come in a variety of forms. When absorbed into the skin there is very little to no oily residue. This method creates cream and lotions that feel moist, less greasy. Oil in Water O/W – this emulsion has the oil being surrounded by water. If done correctly you will have little to no greasiness. Milk is a common example of an oil-in-water emulsion. The emulsion is often made with your choice of oil, beeswax, borax and water. Oil-in-water emulsions will mix readily with water-based liquids, while water-in-oil emulsions mix more easily with oils. The level of greasiness depends on the formula – all of which will be absorbed into the skin. Water in Oil W/O – in this emulsion the oil surrounds the water and the oil touches the skin first. There are two types of emulsions: Water in Oil W/O and Oil in Water O/W. Emulsifiers work because their molecules have two parts: one part loves water and one part loves oil. One class of emulsifiers is known as “surface active agents”, or surfactants. (ii) Water-in-oil emulsion (W/O) : The emulsion in which water forms the dispersed phase, and the oil acts as the dispersion medium is called a water-in-oil emulsion. In milk liquid fat globules are dispersed in water. In cosmetic chemistry– and in kitchen chemistry, we use ’emulsions’ to blend two immiscible (unblendable) liquids together.Īn emulsifier (also known as an “emulgent”) is a substance that stabilizes an emulsion by increasing its kinetic stability. Milk is an example of the oil-in-water type of emulsion. Without an emulsifier, you can ‘aggitate’ the water and oil together but as soon as you stop, they fall out and separate back to oil floating on water. Since water and oil do not mix but stay separated, an additional agent (emulsifier) is necessary to form a homogenous mixture keeping water and oil together. Typically creating a lotion or cream takes three phases: a water phase, an oil phase and a finishing phase that occurs after your emulsion has cooled. Emulsifiers in action– when oil and water do mix! 6/11/2023 0 Comments Roguebook psnThese will appear as slightly darker brown if the tiles have not been unlocked yet. Hopefully, that will be sorted out in the final release, but it definitely hindered the experience a tad not knowing whether or not I’ll lose my run due to a game crash and not lack of slack and poor decision-making like usual.Chapter 1 of the deckbuilding game Roguebook is the easiest to get through. I also ran into pretty frequent technical problems, having the game crash on me multiple times when returning to a run or trying to load up a new one. It added a whole extra genre to the game with its tower defense mechanics, and while Roguebook tries to do something new, it doesn’t go that far. Monster Train was another game that was clearly inspired by Slay the Spire and incorporated a lot of the same or very similar gameplay mechanics, but at the same time, it still felt unique. Roguebook definitely tries to be original with its open-world map and dual-character combat system, but in the end, it just feels like another rip-off of Slay the Spire. The biggest thing that distinguishes a truly great roguelike from all of the others – and trust me, there are a lot of them now – is originality. While the characters are cool, the game doesn’t really stand out – which is ultimately my main problem with the game, it’s nothing special. The same goes for the graphics, its a cute and pretty fantasy game that looks really good but the art style isn’t that unique. The music is nice and atmospheric but didn’t overly stand out as anything special to me. 6/11/2023 0 Comments Apple remote desktop reviewsPerform lightning-fast searches with Remote Spotlight search.
